Requirements

Facilitator Certification consists of 100 days (800 hours) of immersion in The Work.

  1. Diploma from The School for The Work
  2. Attendance at an additional School for The Work as staff or repeater
  3. Participation in approved BKI events - 25 days
  4. Working with your Mentor - 40 hours
    • Private exchanges with, feedback and support from, your assigned mentor
    • Monthly teleconferences with mentors and ITW candidates in your Certification Group
  5. One-for-One - 160 hours
    • Candidates give and receive feedback on facilitations from their mentor assigned partner
    • Partners help each other identify motives
    • Discussion of recorded sessions for self-evaluation
  6. Teleclasses and/or Webinars - 40 hours
  7. Hotline Volunteer Facilitation- 160 hours
    • Must have completed two Schools (as staff or repeater) and 3 months of One-for-One curriculum to begin this phase
    • Must be recommended by mentor to begin this phase
  8. Certification Evaluation Workshop* - 7 days
    • Individual work with Byron Katie
    • One-on-one facilitation practicum
    • Receipt of positive evaluation from mentors and training staff
    • Final evaluation by Byron Katie
    • Individual Certification is granted upon Byron Katie's recommendation
    *Workshop designed for participants who have completed requirements 1 – 6

Other requirements

Every Certified Facilitator is required to mentor candidates for the first year after becoming certified. Thereafter, Certified Facilitators are required to mentor candidates for one six- month period every two years. A $100 annual Certification renewal fee is also required.
